To do this, Camyo has the following features:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-list\"><li>With Camyo, you can manage one or more catalogs of your photos.<\/li><li>Camyo helps you to import the latest photos from your phone or camera. You can make a selection of your photos and copy them to a folder created for the occasion.<\/li><li>Within catalogs you can search for duplicates and remove them if you want.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Getting started<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When you start Camyo for the first time, it will open like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"750\" height=\"452\" class=\"wp-image-117\" style=\"width: 750px;\" src=\"https:\/\/camyo.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Camyo-Initial.gif\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the left side of the screen you can see the Import section. This is where the contents of your phone or camera (or any other &#8216;media device&#8217;) will be shown. On the right side, you will see the contents of your catalog. A catalog is basically a list of all photos that are stored in one or more folders on your hard drive(s). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first time you start Camyo, it starts with an empty catalog. You can start building your catalog by adding folders that contain photo files. You do this by using the button <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"32\" height=\"32\" class=\"wp-image-119\" style=\"width: 32px;\" src=\"https:\/\/camyo.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Manage32.png\" alt=\"\"> in the toolbar shown below the word &#8216;Catalog&#8217;. This window will open:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"636\" height=\"322\" class=\"wp-image-118\" style=\"width: 636px;\" src=\"https:\/\/camyo.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/ManageCatalogFolders.gif\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click the <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"32\" height=\"32\" class=\"wp-image-121\" style=\"width: 32px;\" src=\"https:\/\/camyo.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/AddFolder32.png\" alt=\"\"> button and select a folder that contains photo files. Repeat this for all (top-level) folders that contain photos. After adding the folders you wish to include in the catalog, click OK. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now you can let Camyo scan for photos within the folders by using the button <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"32\" height=\"32\" class=\"wp-image-11\" style=\"width: 32px;\" src=\"https:\/\/camyo.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Scan32.png\" alt=\"\">. This can take quite some time, because Camyo will read the files completely and create a unique fingerprint for each photo. Note: Camyo scans for photos with the .JPG or .JPEG extension and for movie files with the .MOV and .MP4 extension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Camyo only uses only the image data in your photo files to create the fingerprint. This means that it does not depend on the filename, file date or other metadata for it. When importing photos from your media devices, Camyo will know when you have imported certain files before (by comparing fingerprints), even when you changed the file&#8217;s name or other metadata. When you edit a photo with a photo editor, the fingerprint will change.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The photos on your hard drive are now shown in the Catalog list. You can save the catalog with the button <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"32\" height=\"32\" class=\"wp-image-23\" style=\"width: 32px;\" src=\"https:\/\/camyo.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Save32.png\" alt=\"\"> (Save) or <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"32\" height=\"32\" class=\"wp-image-24\" style=\"width: 32px;\" src=\"https:\/\/camyo.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/SaveAs32.png\" alt=\"\"> (Save as \u2026).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Import from Phones or Cameras<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want to import photos from your cell phone or camera, use the button <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"32\" height=\"32\" class=\"wp-image-14\" style=\"width: 32px;\" src=\"https:\/\/camyo.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Browse32.png\" alt=\"\"> or <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"32\" height=\"32\" class=\"wp-image-120\" style=\"width: 32px;\" src=\"https:\/\/camyo.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/BrowseDrives32.png\" alt=\"\"> on the toolbar below the word &#8216;Import&#8217;. The former button is for importing photos from media devices, such as cell phones or cameras. The latter button is for importing from devices that have a drive letter under Windows, such as external hard drives or SD cards. After seaching your device, the photos on your device will be shown in the Import list. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1066\" height=\"643\" class=\"wp-image-116\" style=\"width: px;\" src=\"https:\/\/camyo.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Camyo-Import.gif\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you already have the photos on your hard drive, they will be shown in green, otherwise in white. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Camyo remembers the contents of your phone or camera, so when you connect it again, Camyo doesn&#8217;t need to create a fingerprint for any photos it has seen before. This makes it considerably faster to check your device for new items. For this feature, Camyo depends on the filename, file date and other metadata. So if any of these change a new fingerprint will be determined. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now you can indicate which photos you wish to import into your catalog. You do this by clicking the checkbox shown to the right of each photo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you have selected all photos that you want to copy to a folder within your catalog, click the button <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"32\" height=\"32\" class=\"wp-image-17\" style=\"width: 32px;\" src=\"https:\/\/camyo.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/CopyToCatalog32.png\" alt=\"Import\"> (Import&#8230;). You are then presented with a &#8216;Select Folder&#8217; dialog, with which you can select or create a folder to copy the photos to. Click OK to start the import.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"486\" height=\"293\" class=\"wp-image-110\" style=\"width: px;\" src=\"https:\/\/camyo.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/SelectCatalogFolder.gif\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Feature Overview<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In the image below you can see all features that are available on the main screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/camyo.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Camyo-Functions.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1576\" height=\"905\" class=\"wp-image-186\" style=\"width: px;\" src=\"https:\/\/camyo.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Camyo-Functions.png\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/camyo.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Camyo-Functions.png 1576w, https:\/\/camyo.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Camyo-Functions-300x172.png 300w, https:\/\/camyo.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Camyo-Functions-1024x588.png 1024w, https:\/\/camyo.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Camyo-Functions-768x441.png 768w, https:\/\/camyo.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Camyo-Functions-1536x882.png 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1576px) 100vw, 1576px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you click on a photo in a list, a thumbnail will be shown at the bottom of the screen. Clicking the thumbnail will open the photo in the default photo viewer of your system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Camyo has a few features to help you manage the photos on your device. If you right-click a photo in the Import list, this pop-up menu will open:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"502\" height=\"241\" class=\"wp-image-122\" style=\"width: px;\" src=\"https:\/\/camyo.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/ImportPopupMenu.gif\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The menu allows you to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Check all new, not yet imported, photos in the selection<\/li><li>Delete all selected photos<\/li><li>Delete all checked photos (only available when checkboxes are ticked)<\/li><li>Show the selected photo in Windows Explorer<\/li><li>Copy the selected photo&#8217;s path to the clipboard<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Camyo also has a few features for reorganizing your catalog. When you right-click a photo or a selection of photos in the catalog, a pop-up menu will open:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"492\" height=\"375\" class=\"wp-image-106\" style=\"width: px;\" src=\"https:\/\/camyo.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/CatalogPopupMenu.gif\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The menu allows you to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span style=\"font-family: var(--font-base, &quot;Noto Sans&quot;, -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, &quot;Segoe UI&quot;, &quot;Roboto&quot;, &quot;Oxygen&quot;, &quot;Ubuntu&quot;, &quot;Cantarell&quot;, &quot;Fira Sans&quot;, &quot;Droid Sans&quot;, &quot;Helvetica Neue&quot;, sans-serif);\">Delete the selected photos<\/span><\/li><li>Move the selected photos to a different folder<\/li><li>Manage duplicates of the selected photo (see below)<\/li><li>Show the selected photo in Windows Explorer<\/li><li>Copy the selected photo&#8217;s path to the clipboard<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have used Windows Explorer or another file manager to reorganize your catalog, Camyo can quickly be synchronized to the new situation by pressing the <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"32\" height=\"32\" class=\"wp-image-22\" style=\"width: 32px;\" src=\"https:\/\/camyo.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Refresh32.png\" alt=\"\"> button. After you press this button, Camyo will look for new, changed or removed photos in the catalog folders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Search for and Remove Duplicates<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Camyo can help you to get rid of duplicates of your photos, thereby freeing up disk space and keeping your catalogs organized. You can search for duplicate photos within the current catalog by clicking the button <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"32\" height=\"32\" class=\"wp-image-19\" style=\"width: 32px;\" src=\"https:\/\/camyo.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/FindDoubles32.png\" alt=\"\">. Camyo will search the catalog for photos that have duplicates, which will be shown in red in the list. You can go from one photo that has duplicates to the next using the buttons <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"32\" height=\"32\" class=\"wp-image-18\" style=\"width: 32px;\" src=\"https:\/\/camyo.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Down32.png\" alt=\"\"> and <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"32\" height=\"32\" class=\"wp-image-13\" style=\"width: 32px;\" src=\"https:\/\/camyo.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Up32.png\" alt=\"\">. Alternatively, you can use the F5 and F6 key. When you right-click a photo that has one or more duplicates, a pop-up menu will open, from which you can choose between these options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Delete &#8211; Move the selected photo(s) into the recycle bin.<\/li><li>Goto Duplicate (F3) &#8211; The selection in the list moves to the next duplicate of the selected photo.<\/li><li>Show only Duplicates (F9) &#8211; Only the photos in your catalog that have duplicates are shown in the list.<\/li><li>Show only Duplicates of This (F11) &#8211; Only the selected photo and its duplicates are shown in the list.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>When a list with only duplicates is shown, you can return to the complete catalog by selecting Show All in the pop-up menu or by pressing F12.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Configuring Camyo<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Via the button <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"32\" height=\"32\" class=\"wp-image-12\" style=\"width: px;\" src=\"https:\/\/camyo.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Settings32.png\" alt=\"Settings...\"> (Settings&#8230;) you can set a cache directory. When a cache directory has been specified, the photos on your devices are copied to the cache directory before a fingerprint will be created. Later, when you decide to import these photos, they are copied from the cache instead of from the device, which makes importing a lot faster. For best results, choose a folder on a fast hard drive or SSD. Do not use a folder that is part of one of your catalogs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Note: When a photo has been seen on the device before, it is not copied to the cache, since no fingerprint has to be determined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is, in short, the story of Camyo.
